Project Objective:
Oregon State University is excited to host the 2017 National Student Steel Bridge Competition (NSSBC). Our goal through CREATE Oregon State is to raise at least $35,000 in order to host this event and help keep student registration fees as low as possible.
Project Description:
The NSSBC is an annual event with students from approximately 200 schools from around the world competing in regional competitions for a spot at Nationals. At the NSSBC, student teams construct and test bridges that they have designed and fabricated to meet set specifications. Steel Bridge teams compete to be the best in aesthetics, lightness, stiffness, construction speed, construction economy, and structural efficiency. http://cce.oregonstate.edu/nssbc
How the Funds Will Support us:
Approximately 50 teams (over 600 students) are expected to participate.
A few examples of how this fund could support us:
Covering cost of competition materials and equipment
Keeping registration fees as low as possible
Covering costs of venues, parking, food for our participants and volunteers
Beyond the Project:
This national competition provides students with: the opportunity to learn fabrication processes, design/management experience, and the excitement of networking with and competing against teams from other colleges and universities. The event also allows us to show off our beautiful campus and the world-class educational opportunities at Oregon State. Please help us to showcase Beaver Nation and to host the best NSSBC to date.
This contribution covers the cost of one student participant meal.
This contribution will help offset the cost of various supplies. For example, on competition day we will need a lot of signs to help keep traffic flowing.
This contribution will help offset lodging for a judge
