No Beaver Hungry: Help Sustain OSU's Food Pantry

Who we are

The Human Services Resource Center (HSRC) is a student-fee funded organization that alleviates the challenges of poverty, hunger, homelessness, and food insecurity for OSU students so that they can pursue a quality education. We believe that all OSU students should have access to resources that meet human needs, and help them focus their participation on their educational experience. One of our most popular programs is the student-operated Emergency Food Pantry, which serves 2,100-2,500 persons annually.

Pantry distributions occur every other week, and are operated by student staff who work to ensure a safe, welcoming environment for pantry clients. In addition to providing  food for its clients, the social environment of the pantry provides opportunities for education, connection to resources, and community building among those who utilize the resource.

What is our goal?

The Emergency Food Pantry aims to raise $5,500 to ensure its operation for 2015-2016 academic year.  We pay membership rates with the Linn-Benton Food Share, which allows us to obtain food at $0.15-$0.20 per pound, and funds will be used to purchase food to distribute at the Pantry.

The Emergency Pantry is one of the HSRC’s most utilized programs, and we look forward to ensuring its this year and beyond. Any funds raised beyond our initial goal will be used to contribute to the seeds for an Pantry endowment to ensure the ongoing availability of this resource on campus.

Why contribute?

OSU Students deserve the ability to pursue higher education without the hindrance of hunger, poverty, and other related human needs. Your donations can help the Emergency Food Pantry contribute to the food security of our students so that they can achieve their fullest success.

Donations are accepted at a variety of levels, and as little as $25 can support a family of 3. Donations at greater levels can support entire pantry distributions, or even contribute to an endowment that can yield ongoing dividends to support Pantry efforts.
