Week 7: Update

November 03, 2015

BEAVER NATION - we did it!  We were successful in raising the funds to SeqTheBeav!  Note:  even though the donation total is showing $20K, we did raise the required $30K.  THANK YOU for all your support.

Next step is to sequence Filbert's genome (~ December 2015) and then the analysis (winter term 2016).  To keep up-to-date on this project, see http://cgrb.oregonstate.edu/beaver-genome-project

They say it "Takes a village to raise a beaver". It also takes a village to run a crowd funding campaign for beavers. As we come to the end of the campaign, SeqTheBeav would like to thank the many volunteers who helped with the project:

Week 6: Update

October 29, 2015

SeqTheBeav has received quite a bit of press this past week in Portland; both KPTV Fox 12, KEX radio and the Oregonian.

We are entering our FINAL 24 HOURS with our fund raising for the Beaver Genome Project.  With the past week’s donations, we have just past the $19,000 mark.  Let’s see if we can make it to $20K by tomorrow at noon!

We are challenging everyone to give to https://create.osufoundation.org/seqthebeav

Now that you have, we ask you to extend the challenge to others and ask them to match your generosity.  If you are on social media, share the fact that you have donated to the campaign directly from the site and ask fellow fans of science to lend their support.

NOW is the time!  The clock is ticking….

Thank you for your support!

Week 5: Update

October 22, 2015

We are entering our FINAL WEEK with our fund raising for the Beaver Genome Project.  Illumina has generously provided $10K of in kind donations.  We now have all the reagent and reagent kits to sequence Benny’s DNA.  However, we still need to cover the other sequencing costs.   We are only 25% to our goal.  If you have been thinking of donating…NOW IS THE TIME!

Week 3: Update

October 08, 2015

Hello Beaver Sequers,

We have just ended our third week of the campaign.  At the halfway point of our campaign we are at just 25% to our goal.  This week we are going to have some fun!

SeqTheBeav has been around the OSU campus at events, on TV monitors and even mailboxes.  Now it’s your turn… we are looking for the best digital picture featuring the "Seq The Beav" slogan or flyer.  Post them on our Facebook page or Twitter.  The best pic will win a $50.00 gift card to the Beaver Store.  The winner will be chosen on Wednesday, October 14.  So get those pictures posted.

Week 2: Update

September 30, 2015

Hello Beaver Sequers,

We have just ended our second week of the campaign.  We passed our $5,000 milestone, but we are still a long way off from our final goal.

What we’re asking of you today is to send this link to at least 10 other people. They can be friends, family members, or coworkers; the point here is to get the word out about our campaign as much as possible.   We’d appreciate it if you would share this on Facebook, Twitter, and your other social media accounts.  Word of mouth is the key to our campaign!
