Ecological Engineering Capstone Project 2018

This year’s EcoE senior design class chose between two problems: developing a filter to remove toxic levels of Fluoride from well-water in Cameroon, or developing a nitrate-removing bio-reactor to treat the tile-line water from the OSU dairy facility fields.  Five Teams took up the fluoride filtration problem, with four teams developing a household level system, and one team a community-size system. Two teams are developing woodchip-based bioreactors for Nitrate.

Through this fundraiser, to send students representing the teams to either a scientific conference, or to an actual site where their filter system might be needed.  Dr. Murthy visited a research site in India, which would be a great place for the students to share their findings and compare notes with a team working under real-world conditions (and a bit safer than Cameroon).  We also hope to send two students to represent the bioreactors teams to the ACS NORM 2018 conference in Richland, Washington.

Please consider making a donation here to support these committed students!
