The campaign to raise funds for a players lounge for Oregon State Baseball has surpassed $100,000!

It is thanks to YOU! To each and every one of the 246 donors who gave to this project and for the countless others who passed the word along to build awareness in support of these young men and this program.

The campaign to raise funds in support of Oregon State Baseball and a new players lounge will come to a close Wednesday morning at 8:59 a.m., and to say the response from Beaver Nation has been phenomenal would be a major understatement.

To date, 219 donations have accounted for $92,835 in support of this project. Our public goal was $75k and we are currently at 123 percent of said goal. Both of these numbers are records for athletic crowd funding efforts at Oregon State, but with less than 48 hours to go, amazingly, we are only $7,165 away from reaching $100,000. Whether you are an alumni, season ticket holder or Dugout Club member, this is something awesome to be a part of, and saying you helped get us over the $100k mark would be very special.

As we come to the end of this campaign, we want to again thank all who have been a part of it. There is still time to help OSU Baseball get to that mark of $100k raised in support of a project that is being constructed in honor of Bert & Shirley Babb, and will be put to use by a great group of young men as they strive to be champions on the field, in the classroom and in their lives.

Thank You! There is no way we could begin this update any other way. Because of your generosity and because of the love you all have for Oregon State Baseball, we have been able to reach our fundraising goal of $75,000!

This project, which will begin the construction phase soon and will be completed prior to the start of the upcoming season, is important for two reasons. First, it is a way for everyone affiliated with OSU Baseball to say to our current and future student-athletes, “We are here for you. Thank you for everything you do for this program year in and year out.” Secondly, this space gives us the opportunity to recognize two people that have given so much of themselves for this program, OSU Athletics and this University.

Bert & Shirley Babb’s name is synonymous with Oregon State. They are ambassadors of Beaver Nation and I can't think of a better way to say thank you than to ensure their legacy is in full view for every student-athlete to see each time they enter their new players lounge.

As we move through the final week of our campaign to raise funds for a new players lounge, I am extremely proud to announce the new facility will be named in honor of Bert & Shirley Babb.

Bert and Shirley have done so much not only our program but for Oregon State Athletics and this University as well. When you say the name Babb, there aren’t many people within the OSU community who don’t know to whom you’re referring. For every one of you that know Bert and Shirley, you know there isn’t anything they wouldn’t do for the Beavers. Your generosity toward this project is amazing to me and I personally thank you. We have a week to go and our goal is within reach.

We are halfway through the campaign to raise $75k in support of our current and future baseball student-athletes in the hopes of constructing a new state-of-the-art players lounge. The momentum is inspiring but there is still work to be done!

This space will provide our guys the ability to study, relax, bond and simply get away. The question you may have is what exactly are we supporting? First, housed within the room will be a tribute wall honoring all of the major league baseball players that have come through this program. This is important to show not only the heights to which our alumni reach within the game but also remind them of those who paved the way before them.

The players lounge will include: • Study table area equipped with computer stations • Four (4) 60” flat screen TVs • One (1) large projection screen, with custom audio/visual set up • Two (2) X-Box gaming consoles • Two (2) PlayStation gaming systems • Full-size refrigerators • Custom couches, chairs, wall graphics, paint • Custom ping-pong and pool tables, shuffleboard and wood flooring • High speed Wi-Fi

The initial momentum for our campaign to raise funds for a new players lounge has been amazing. Through the first week, we have raised $18,800, which represents 25 percent of our overall goal. That momentum is because of you and we can’t put into words how thankful we are for your dedication to Oregon State Baseball.

Please take a moment to listen to a few of our student-athletes talk about what a players lounge like the one we are planning will mean to them. After hearing what they have to say, you will realize what you have done has an amazing impact.

The work isn’t done yet. We still have a goal to reach and nothing worth doing is ever easy. When we entered the 2006 College World Series, not many outside those who love Oregon State Baseball gave us much of a chance but we fought. We clawed and reached the pinnacle of college baseball, and then we did it AGAIN!
